World Cup Teams Analysis

I've always want to write this, but too lazy to.

What does it take's to win the World Cup?In my opinion, there must be 2 factors.
1. Quality
2. Quality

What I mean,is:
Quality in Players & Quality in Coaches

Let's take a closer look at the teams.

Quality in Players but Lousy in Coaches:
Under this category,are: France, Spain,England & Brazil.
France have proved me wrong so far,but I believed they're just lucky.Note how they struggle in the group stages.Something is wrong when the coach allowed the players to decide who they want in the pitch! Also, they're a bunch of old men.Call them experienced, but again younger team full of running, they're get slaughtered!Their journey will ends in the next game against Portugal.

Spain,is a very young but exciting team. The Spanish league is very exciting with quality, and as long as they can keep Raul out of the team, they can go far.Raul,in my opinion,is the distracting factor in the team simply because he think's he's great, and his influences weld far.

England,sigh...get rid of Sven-Goran Eriksson and everything's okay.

Brazil, well, has no defenders. They don't see the need to defend. The coach is pretty lousy. He insisted on Ronaldo even when he's obviously a pale shade of himself.Just a 4-1 win against Japan, and everybody say BRAZIL IS BACK!!! C'mon..it's just Japan...did anybody see how they will exposed by Ghana?Ghana rained 25 shots at Brazil, compared to Brazil's 21.Should we say Ghana is a more attacking team than Brazil? If Ghana have better strikers, they would have boot Brazil out instead. How I wished that happened!

Quality in Coaches but Lousy in Players:
Not many teams in this category. The only one I can think of is Australia. In Guus Hiddink, they have one of the best,if not the best, coach. However,Australia is very inexperienced, and their reserved goalkeeper is disaster. That's why Guus Hiddink can only bring them that far. They lost to a debatable last-min penalty against Italy.

Quality In Coaches & Quality In Players:
Holland,Germany,Italy,Czech Republic,Portugal,Agentina

Any one of these teams could win the Cup.In my opinion,Argentina & Italy are the ultimate favourites to reach the final, without looking at how the table goes.

Holland is very similar to Germany.Young, fast attacking teams with rookie coaches whom players very respect. Both coaches are reknowned strikers in their playing days, hence explained their philosopy in attack.Germany, though did rather badly in their friendly games, must not be neglected. They have a reputation of being a late starter, and coupled with a never-say-die attitude. They never give up until the final whistle is blown. The joke is,"Football is a game which 22 players kick the ball, and the Germans win!".

Czech Republic's coach is the oldest in the tournament,70+.However,over reliance on 3 old players in the team proved to be their mistake and they failed to progress out of the group.

Argentina is a traditional powerhouse in the game.In the game against S&M,they won 6-0 without stepping up a gear. It's plain unlucky they lose in the penalty shootout again the host.

Italy,my favourite team in the international scene, have a very strong league which chuck out loads of quality players. They are very tactical, with a strong foundation in the art of defending.Throw in world class strikers as well, with a thinking coach,Italy is never a team to write off.Till date, the Italians have only let in 1 goal, and its an own goal.See how water-tight their defence is?

Some Africian teams impressed as well, like Ghana & Ivory Coast.Fast, attacking teams, but leaky, inexperienced defence let them down.

South Korea,is somewhere in the middle.Half-quality player & not-too-bad coach. They're just unlucky not to progress further.

Japan, forget about it.Football is a game of 90 mins, but they can only run for 60 mins. That's why they lost to Australia.

The rest of the team, esp Saudi Arabia, waste my time commenting.

Watch out for a Italy V Portugal final.

Finally!!!!

Hey you,the England fans, who religiously believed England will win the 2006 World Cup,take this from me: HA!HA!HA!
Right from the start,I've never believed England will win the World Cup.I'm a neutral, and I must say,I do feel a bit sad that England is given the boot, but the consolation is,they've finally gotten rid of Sven-Goran Eriksson!!They're spared of more embarrassement!!
I must admit,England do have a wealth of talents at their disposal, and is a very talented squad to challenge for the Cup.However, they made a mistake in hiring Sven-Goran Eriksson. This fellow is nothing but a womaniser. He can't coach, but is good at squeezing money from his employer.Guess how much he pockets a year? For the record,it's $4m pounds!!That's almost $12m SGD!!Which other coach is paid that much?He can't justify that pay for goodness' sake!Show us what he've won during the 5 years in charge!I can't think of any.

What's wrong with this England squad?

1. Hiring a coach who did nothing when the game's not in their favour.
2. Hiring a coach who select his favourite players to play games instead of what the tactics(if he understand tactics) required. Many a time, his 'pets' couldn't perform.
3. Hiring a coach who messed up the players' best positions on the field. What's Owen Hargreves doing in a right-back position in the Ecuador game?
4. Hiring a coach who allowed the WAGs(sounds like dogs, but they are regarded so,since that's what they called themselves) aka 'Wives And Girlfriends' to make themselves a nuisance, spoilt the focus of the players to the extent that other teams' WAGs keep a distance from the English.
5. Hiring a coach who apparently did not prepare his team for penalties.

In last night's game, which run into extra-time,the coach send in Jamie Carragher in the last few minutes of extra-time for another subsitute,Aaron Lenon, who had before that, replaced David Beckham. Why?Eriksson must have planned to let Jamie Carragher take the spot kick. What a silly move!!At a time when fresh legs are required to kill off the game,he took out a player who's still fresh, and send in an even fresher one!!He should have send in Jamie Carragher just before the 90 mins are up,and take out another who is tired!By the way,Jamie Carragher missed his spot-kick big time!!England only managed to put in 1 out of 4 kicks! You tell me,what sort of coach is that?

I am still laughing at those silly ones who believed Portugal who has 2 players suspended,is ripe for a thrashing.Let me tell you, even if the entire first 11 is suspended,by the incompetence of the English,Portugal will still prevail.

I read about the English players PROMISING Prince Williams to win the World Cup.Ha!I hope the Prince will round them up for going back on their words.(In ancient China, they will be executed for deceiving the Emperor)

England's performances in this tournament weren't convincing,to say the least.I had expected them to get booted in the 2nd round, but fortunately for them, they played a lesser team, and their luck hangs on.Which of their games were won convincingly?None!!They can't even beat Sweden, and Paraguay & T&T aren't much of a threat, and they struggled.Ecuador pushed them to their limits, and Ecuador is ranked nowhere near them!Once they met a quality opponent, they will in deep shit.Yesterday was the day.

I felt sorry for the players though. With so many players in their prime, like Beckham,Lampard etc, their talents & potential went to waste under this lousy coach.By the next world cup,Beckham will be 35,and Lampard will be 32.Too old to play then. What a waste. The FA should have removed that Swede earlier!!

I've never supported England in the international scene.I think they are a bunch of arrogant,over-rated and under-deliver players. They easily earned in a week what working class people makes in a year.Yet they seldom perform.

Once again,England fans,Ha!Ha!Ha!
